Troop 500 serves the Point Loma and Ocean Beach neighborhoods of San Diego, California. The Troop is chartered by Saint Agnes Church and is a member of the San Diego-Imperial Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Troop meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights at Saint Agnes Parish Hall at the corner of Evergreen Street and Avenida de Portugal in Point Loma. Each year the Troop has numerous exciting and educational outings:
- Canoe/kayak trips on the Colorado River
- Hikes in the Grand Canyon
- Overnight and longer backpacking trips
- Summer camps on Catalina Island and Mataguay
- Fishing and camping on San Clemente Island
Troop 500 also 'gives back' to the community through a variety of troop and eagle community service projects including park repair/restoration projects, tree plantings, flag ceremonies and assistance at local community events. |
There is a LIFE TO EAGLE informational course being held on Thursday, November 10th at 7:00 PM. All Life scouts and their parents should check out this program for information on the who, what, when where and why of reaching the rank of Eagle. This is an excellent workshop for Life Scouts who are working toward the rank of Eagle Scout. She will be providing valuable information about the process of earning the Eagle Scout Rank.
We’ll forego our August Committee and Parent meetings, as in past years. The next Committee/Parent meetings will likely be held September 3rd and September 10th. More to come on that...
